Forward, together
November, 2024
Many of us are feeling intense emotions as we enter into the final stages of the 2024 Presidential election. Feelings of fear, anxiety, anger, hope, excitement can cycle through our bodies all in the same week, day or moment. We hold real worry for our families and communities, especially for those of us who have already been villainized and attacked throughout the campaigns. We are facing the unknown, and that is a lot to hold.
We have been here before. Perhaps not under the exact same circumstances, but these feelings of hopelessness and anxiety are not new to us. At the same time, our cycling back through these emotions can help us to remember that we already have the skills we need to get through, together.
This past month marked the 8-year anniversary of the Buffalo 25 raids; raids that happened under a Democratic president in the midst of a high stakes election. Eight years ago our communities were put on the political chopping block for the benefit of keeping a system fueled on hate, division and fear alive. And yet, we are still here. And yet, we remain rooted and powerful in our commitments to keeping each other safe.
As we march forward through this election cycle, remember that we have each other. We encourage you to reach out for support, offer what you have and link up with those who you know need to be held.
